Pope John Paul II

Karol Wojtyla was elected Pope the 16^th October 1978, with Polish origin he was the first non –Italian Pope after 455 years (since 1523). Coming from the Est side communist Poland, where to be a priest was very much like as to be a fighter on the front lines , Karol Wojtyla immediately aroused sympathy and admiration by the Christian and non Christian people, as he was an open minded and unconventional person.

He was a worker and a travelling Pope, for this reason he received these two “nominations” for his anusual behavior as a Pope. He was the first Pope to enter a synagogue and a mosque, the first Pope to attend a rock concert and a football game.

He used to pronounce these words: ”Totus Tuus sum, Maria et omnia mea tua sunt” (I am completely yours and everything is mine is yours), this states his complete devotion to Our Lady.
