PADRE PIO

Padre Pio of Pietralcina is much loved and honored.

The Capuchin Friar, whose name was Francesco Forgione, spent most of his life in San Giovanni Rotondo in the province of Foggia.

He arrived in the Monastery in 1916 and here he died the 23rd September 1968.

He received the stigmata and devoted his entire life to the needy, the poor and the sick people.

He was the one who strongly wanted the “Hospital of Suffering” and the “Rehabilitation Center Padre Pio”.

In 2002 The Pope Papa Giovanni Paolo II, at last proclaimed him the Holy, removing any possible doubt and disbelief about the stigmata that the Friar used to receive while concentrated in his prayer.
