Creation of Adam

The “Creation of Adam” is a fresco (280x 570cm) made by Michelangelo Buonarroti . It is part of the decoration of the vaulted ceiling of the “Cappella Sistina” in the Vatican Museums in Rome.

It was commissioned by Julius II, and it is considered not only one of the most famous events represented in the Cappella Sistina, but it is also one of the most important and well known icons celebrated in art.

Painted approximately in 1511, all single details are greatly reported and the “awakening of Adam” has so many highly suggestive details that all gestures seem extremely natural and the whole frame seems so realistic, a real body waking up, so accurate that could be considered as a “picture” rather than a painting.
